The Thomas Merton Centre for Continuing Education serves more than 11,000 residents of Halton Region in a diverse array of programs. It provides secondary school credit courses through Thomas Merton Catholic Secondary School in Night School, summer School, Adult Day School, International Education, Independent Learning Courses, and e-Learning. With its partners in Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) at the federal level and the provincial Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI), the Halton Catholic District School Board provides adult language training and settlement services to newcomers and those Canadians requiring English or French language enhancement.
TMCCE also partners with the provincial Ministry of Colleges, Training, and Universities (MCTU) to provide Literacy and Basic Skills training to developmentally delayed adults. In addition, several thousand elementary aged students participate each year in International Languages courses funded by the Ministry of Education (EDU). These Friday evening or Saturday morning classes not only provide children with an understanding of their own heritage, but also assist in weaving cultures together in creating Canada's unique cultural fabric.
