The Thomas Merton Centre for Continuing Education serves more than 11,000 residents of Halton Region in a diverse array of programs. It provides secondary school credit courses through Thomas Merton Catholic Secondary School in Night School, summer School, Adult Day School, International Education, Independent Learning Courses, and e-Learning. With its partners in Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) at the federal level and the provincial Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI), the Halton Catholic District School Board provides adult language training and settlement services to newcomers and those Canadians requiring English or French language enhancement.

TMCCE also partners with the provincial Ministry of Colleges, Training, and Universities (MCTU) to provide non credit academic upgrading. In addition, several thousand elementary aged students participate each year in International Languages courses funded by the Ministry of Education (EDU). These Friday evening or Saturday morning classes not only provide children with an understanding of their own heritage, but also assist in weaving cultures together in creating Canada's unique cultural fabric.

Speak Up Ontario Survey

The Ministry of Education wants to know your thoughts about the future of education in Ontario.  By following the link below, you will reach a questionnaire with three questions.  Your responses to these questions will contribute to defining the direction of education for years to come.

Building The Next Phase in Ontario's Education Strategy

In May, 2013, the Ministry of Education released "Building the Next Phase in Ontario's Education Strategy', a document designed to serve as a starting point for discussion on the future of Ontario's publicly funded education system.  The ministry's strategy included a series of consultations with stakeholders and education partners across the province.  In addition to provincial and regional consultations, the Ministry also encouraged school boards to gather feedback through local consultations.  The Trustees of the Halton Catholic District School Board have decided to hold a community consultation meeting in each of the municipalities served by the Board.   CONSULTATION MEETING INFORMATION
